Admissions

Prerequisites
To be considered for admission, applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university. There are no specific prerequiste courses for applicants to the AuD and MSDE programs. Courses listed below are required for professional certification and/or licensure upon graduation. Unless otherwise noted, coursework in each subject must be equivalent to three semester hours or more of academic credit. Completion of courses listed below is recommended, but not required, prior to enrollment. Any deficits generally can be completed during graduate studies without an extension of the program.

AuD Program

  • Normal language development
  • Disordered speech and language development

MSDE Program
  • General coursework in the arts, history and government, English composition, mathematics, oral communication, science, behavioral sciences, and multicultural issues (a degree in liberal arts generally fulfills these requirements)
  • Child and adolescent psychology
  • Education and psychology of the exceptional child
  • Normal language development
  • Manual communication (two semester hours or more)

The application deadline is January 15th for the Ph.D. program and February 15th for the Au.D. and M.S.D.E. programs. Applicants to the M.S.D.E. program may apply for early consideration by December 15th, as well.
